El Capitan to screen “The Wind Rises”

In the world of animation, one name is instantly recognizable: Hayao Miyazaki. Miyazaki’s new film The Wind Rises will screen at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for one week starting Friday, Feb. 21. This is a good chance to cross another item off your Oscar list as the film is nominated for Best Animated Feature.
The film follows the life of the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II. Fair warning, the film is rated PG-13 for some disturbing images and smoking. The English language version stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Mae Whitman, Jennifer Grey, Stanley Tucci, Elijah Wood, John Krasinski, William H. Macy, Mandy Patinkin, Darren Criss, Werner Herzog and Martin Short.
Some of Miyazaki’s other films that are well-known include The Secret World of Arrietty, Howl’s Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbor Totoro.
The El Capitan will forgo the English language dubbed version (will be Japanese with English subtitles) on the following dates: Sunday, Feb 23, Monday, Feb 24 and Tuesday, Feb 25.

Emily Blunt For YSL

Emily Blunt is the new face of Yves Saint Laurent’s famous Opium fragrance. The British actress will appear in a television advertising campaign shot by Romain Gavras this October, as well as a print and outdoor campaign shot by Patrick Demarchelier. “It is a really exciting experience to embody this legendary fragrance, which has stood the test of time without its allure ever being diminished,” Blunt said today. “Being a part of this new campaign and being able to tell the story of this very evocative fragrance is a real thrill.” Opium was first launched in 1977, but made headlines in 2000 – when Tom Ford was creative director of YSL – due to Stephen Meisel’s controversial advertising campaign featuring a nude Sophie Dahl, apparently in the throes of ecstasy. The advert was later banned by the Advertising Standards Authority, but the fragrance remains one of YSL’s best-known scents.
