October 1, 2011 Comments Off on Emily Blunt For YSL Charity & Campaigns

The British actress is the new face of Opium fragrance.

Emily Blunt is the new face of Yves Saint Laurent’s famous Opium fragrance. The British actress will appear in a television advertising campaign shot by Romain Gavras this October, as well as a print and outdoor campaign shot by Patrick Demarchelier.

“It is a really exciting experience to embody this legendary fragrance, which has stood the test of time without its allure ever being diminished,” Blunt said today. “Being a part of this new campaign and being able to tell the story of this very evocative fragrance is a real thrill.”

Opium was first launched in 1977, but made headlines in 2000 – when Tom Ford was creative director of YSL –  due to Stephen Meisel’s controversial advertising campaign featuring a nude Sophie Dahl, apparently in the throes of ecstasy. The advert was later banned by the Advertising Standards Authority, but the fragrance remains one of YSL’s best-known scents.
